Suzie Heywood

Trail Drive of the Century

The Trail Boss of a trail drive from Bandera Texas to Dodge City.  A 48 day 655 mile ride that celebrated Bandera as a major staging area for the cattle drives that passed thru Bandera Pass to the Western Trail.  This 65 year old grandmother was responsible for the logistics and safety of every rider on a horse or in a wagon.  Suzie was also active in pushing for the NFL to provide more benefits for former players, after her husbands death, former player Ralph Heywood.
