Please Help Us Expand Our Museum

PictureProposed Museum Building Expansion

The Frontier Times Museum Board of Trustees has announced a Capital Campaign to expand the facility at 510 13th Street in Bandera. This rendering illustrates the museum's proposed new wing.

Today,
 J. Marvin Hunter's vision is alive and well.  His one-of-a kind museum still displays the vestiges of his lively personality and love of frontier relics. Embedded in a fireplace in Chisholm Hall, Hunter's name is spelled out in marbles along with a flintlock musket and bullet mold.  One  floor contains flint arrowheads arranged in the profile of an Indian next to the small footprints of two of Hunter's grandsons.  One of those grandsons, Ray Marvin Hay, would grow up to be Bandera's first mayor.  The museum continues to add to the collection focusing on artifacts that tell the history of Bandera and it continues to grow by offering educational programs and new exhibits.  As in Hunter's day, it is important for the museum to keep growing in order to fullfill the needs of the community.  A new museum expansion is in the planning stages that will add new exhibit and programming space with the goal to keep the building one of the most historic and unique in Bandera County.
