Griff Smith spent 30 years photographing the landscapes, landmarks, and people of Texas for Texas Highways magazine, the official travel magazine of the Texas State Highway Department. Traveling wherever the magazine’s assignments took him, he has traveled more than 250,000 miles across Texas. He has photographed everything from the Alamo to Big Bend and numerous Texas legends such as Governor Ann Richards and Willie Nelson. He retired from Texas Highways as their Photo Editor. Working with the magazine’s staff, Griff compiled the best of his images for the book, On the Road with Texas Highways, published in 2014. He was honored by the Texas State Legislature in Resolution 532 that officially recognizes Griff as the “National Photographer of Texas.” |
