Frances Kaiser

1st women to be elected Sheriff of Kerr County

Medina native, Frances Kaiser achieved many firsts in her life, starting with being the first born of ten children.  Her career in law enforcement became nationally known after fellow Texas Hero inductee, Kinky Friedman, wrote a profile of her for the December 1996 of Texas Monthly magazine.  It featured an incident in which she disarmed a man by offering him a hug.
Her storied career and life will soon be a book entitled, The Trial, Tribulations and Triumphs of a Female Sheriff in Texas.
