"Arkey Blue"
![]() ARKEY BLUE - “Arkey Blue” was born Arkey Juenke in Fredericksburg, Texas, but Arkey and his Silver Dollar Saloon are so strongly identified with Bandera that visitors from all over the world come specifically to walk through the famous red door, hear the music and admire the artifacts that define Blue’s 44 years at the same location.
The former dude ranch wrangler can legitimately claim the title of “cowboy” and he has the pictures to prove it, but it’s as a songwriter and performer that Arkey Blue found fame. He’s written close to 100 songs, recorded many of these, and owns his own publishing company, aptly called “Bandera Music." Inducted into the Bandera Music Hall of Fame as its first Living Legend in 2005, Blue was honored again in 2011 as Songwriter of the Year. In the words of one of Arkey Blue's songs, “There’s Still Country Music In Texas," and Texas Hero Arkey Blue is still making it. |
